Considered to be the best Jet Li film of all time, “Fist of Legend” is often favoured by newcomers to the kung fu genre.
Grounded fighting (with a little wirework here and there) courtesy of Yuen Woo Ping, more accessible than the Bruce Lee original and a film with very little comedy to it, it’s pretty easy to love.
I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite but then I’m a sucker for the “Once Upon a Time in China” series and the Jet Li’s Fong Sai Yuk movies. For fights though, “Fist of Legend” is near perfect and I think it’s the only film beyond Jet’s early Shaw Brothers work to actually show how much of a skilful hand-to-hand fighter he is.
